Kari Ayam

Traditional roti served with two curries and sambal sauce

Chicken satay sticks

With lines that extend down the street and around the corner, curiosity pushed us to visit this little Malaysian joint. Peering from the street, the hardworking chefs in black tease our stomaches by throwing and stretching the roti around on their stainless steel benches.

Hungry and mouth watering from our window observations, we share among us; a Kari Ayam, a classic chicken curry, Chicken satay sticks, Traditional roti and a Murtabak roti, a roti with spiced meat, cabbage, eggs and onion.

Being an extremely lazy eater, I was disappointed that the curry was served with chicken with the bone still on. A sigh of relief greeted the grilled chicken satay sticks that were served with a generous bowl of peanut sauce, cucumbers and onion. The peanut dipping sauce was sweet, flavoursome and the best that I have ever had. The roti; fresh and hot off the grill had the perfect crunch on the outside but kept a soft and delicate interior. Roti is perfect as simple as it is, with a little zing from the dipping curries.

Be expected to wait and sit elbow to elbow with the table next to you but the roti is worthwhile.
