7 Metre Bar

A CFC and a Storm cocktail

Pop-up bars seem to be the new in. They’re popping up everywhere, staying for a little while, serve up a great drink, and then poof! – it leaves us when we crave it the most. 7 Metre Bar is apart of the Laneways: By George! project – the bar has been around since October but people are only beginning to stumble across it now. Imagine, full sized cars hung off the building, broken signs, milk crate chairs and vinyl records as coasters. Chatting to the owner while he shakes up our alcoholic concoctions; he explains that the car in the sky marks 7m, and by 2030, due to global warming and climate change; we would all be underwater with the debris. Quite depressing, but intriguing.

The cocktail menu is short, enough to count on one hand; but they’re simple, sweet but satisfying. There’s fruity drinks; the Storm or Greenhouse, a refreshing cocktail with a kick; the CFC and the masculine scotch based cocktail; the Rusty Chain. Served in either a plastic container or a classic hot chip paper container -the jars are refillable with your cocktail of choice at a reduced price, of course.

Sad to see that these Melbourne inspired laneway bars will be disappearing – so head there before the end of January, These creative project leaders are also anticipating the launch of their bar, Grasshopper around George St very soon.

7 Metre Bar is now closed.
