The King’s Berry Patch, Pear in a Muddle, Saucy Basil Mule, Giggly Rose
The Winery is this new bar on Crown St. And it oozes cheeky elegance and character – with re-occurring themes of roses, wooden decor, black and white nude imagery, cow-hide chair covers and more roses, all found throughout the 3 leveled bar and outdoor seating area.
The service is great here; the waiters are friendly and always “waiting” on you – making sure everything is perfect, whether you want more of this or more of that. My sweetness chord was struck when one of the bar/wait staff gave us free pink roses when we all awed in envy over the pink rose that was served with the Giggly Rose. Too sweet!
There was an overall consensus on the cocktails, many of us thought they were a bit too strong, the Pear in a Muddle, or tasted like nothing at all, the Giggly Rose. And most probably, the irony was that this was The Winery, so wine is on the agenda for next time.
Sliced prosciutto, salami, artichoke and olives platter served with parmesan sticks
Crispy squid served with lemon and cucumber
As the nibbles began to surface, we order the platter to share and the crispy squid. The platter was your average nibbles platter but the crispy squid was definitely a thumbs up – fresh and tender. I scanned the mains menu and they do sound mouthwatering, so there will definitely be an opportunity to head back for a proper wine and dine.
Like they all say, get in quick.
